Universities and training institutions are under increasing pressure to keep pace with digital transformation in healthcare. Tools such as telemedicine, artificial intelligence, and electronic health records are reshaping how care is delivered. At the same time, professionals must develop the management and organisational skills needed to use these tools effectively while maintaining the human side of healthcare.
Courses often lack structured support for integrating digital health, and staff have limited access to training or resources to prepare students for these fast-changing environments. As a result, digital skills are patchy, and students may enter the workforce without the confidence or experience to apply them in practice.
Meanwhile, health systems themselves are under pressure. Ageing populations, rising costs, and growing expectations for personalised care mean that future professionals will need to be adaptable, resilient, and skilled in working across both digital and traditional models of care. Updating education is no longer optional – it is essential.

The project creates a set of practical resources, including:
Together, these activities aim to make healthcare education more relevant, effective, and connected to the needs of society. By equipping the next generation with the right skills, Hybrid Healthcare is helping to build stronger, smarter, and more resilient healthcare systems across Europe.

Hybrid Healthcare is designed to support a wide range of groups working at the intersection of healthcare and higher education:
Our primary focus is staff responsible for teaching and preparing students for healthcare careers. We provide them with resources, training, and support to integrate digital health and hybrid management into their courses.
University leaders and policymakers play a key role in shaping healthcare curricula. Hybrid Healthcare supports them with insights, examples, and tools to embed digital health and management skills into institutional strategies and programmes.
Future healthcare workers need both confidence and experience in using digital technologies. Our OERs and Bootcamps give students practical opportunities to apply new skills in realistic settings, preparing them for the workplaces of tomorrow.
By involving hospitals, industry, and other stakeholders, the project ensures that resources are grounded in real-world needs. Their input helps shape materials and ensures graduates are ready to contribute effectively to healthcare systems in practice.
